USAID’s MaMoni MNCSP Launched at Kushtia

A district level launching event took place on November 12, 2018 at Kheya Restora, Thanapara, Kushtia, jointly organized by District DGFP and DGHS department, with the support of USAID’s MaMoni Maternal and Newborn Care Strengthening Project (MaMoni MNCSP).

The Chief Guest for today’s event was Dr. Sushanta Kumar Roy, Director (Health), Khulna division, Khulna; and the event was chaired by Tarafdar Sohel Rahman, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), Kushtia.

Dr. Rowshan Ara Begum, Civil Surgeon, Kushtia welcomed all to the event and district overview was presented by Sardar Md. Hannan, Deputy Director (Family Planning), Kushtia. Introduction to MaMoni MNCSP was presented by Dr. Anjuman Ara Begum, Sr. Manager-MNH & QI, MaMoni MNCSP, Faridpur Region. A presentation on Quality of Care was made by Minara Chowdhury, Senior Clinical Quality Assurance and Accreditation Advisor, MaMoni MNCSP.

Other special guests included: Shariful Islam, Director (FP), Khulna Division, DGFP; Anwar Ali, Mayor, Kushtia Municipality; Hazi Md. Rabiul Islam, Chairman, Zilla Parishad, Kushtia; Prof. Dr. S.M. Mustanzid, President BMA & Principal, Kushtia Medical College; Dr. Md. Abu Hasanuzzaman, Deputy Director, Kushtia Medical College Hospital; Dr. A. F. M. Aminul Huq Ratan, General Secretary, Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA), Kushtia. Local government officials, journalists and others stakeholders were also present in the event.

The five-year project was formally launched in Chandpur, Madaripur and Noakhali districts, and today’s launching in Kushtia marked the fourth of the ten districts that the project will be working in.
