eMIS Launching Ceremony of Chandpur, Feni and Brahmanbaria

The eMIS launching ceremony of Chandpur, Feni and Brahmanbaria districts was held on 14 January 2019, in BARD Conference Room, Cumilla. Following the success of eMIS operations from the MaMoni HSS period, Director General of Family Planning agreed to scale up the eMIS operations in the new USAID's MaMoni MNCSP districts Brahmanbaria, Feni and Chandpur. In the launching ceremony the district and upazila level managers were shown the overall architecture of eMIS and how it is transforming the business process of the DGFP and DGHS. It helped them to understand how the digital transformation has streamlined the service delivery, and revolutionized the management and monitoring process.

The Chief Guest of the event was Kazi Mustafa Sarwar, Director General, DGFP, however Dr. Mohammad Sharif, Director MCH, DGFP, presided as the Chief Guest as the Director General was unavailable due to unavoidable circumstances. The event was chaired by Nazmus Sadat Selim, Director MIS and Divisional Director of Chattogram, Directorate General Family Planning.

In his speech, Dr. Sharif commended the managers and colleagues who worked passionately in finding solutions for all the field level coordination related challenges, which has resulted in success in healthcare services. He further added that facility delivery is now at 47%, and he hopes it will reach 65% by 2022. He reiterated the importance of increasing the facility delivery numbers by focusing on human resource capacity building, and making the best use of budgets whilst working with USAID’s MaMoni MNCSP.

The chair of the event, Mr. Selim elaborated on plans of collecting 25,000 tabs, which will enable us to reach the selected districts within 2019. He further said that if we all continue to work this way then the eMIS initiative will be able to reach the entire country by 2022. The nation’s citizen and health information will be available to ministry officials at the click of the button, enabling proper use of the data. Mr. Selim concluded his speech exclaiming how proud he felt along with his colleagues at the ministry.

Joby George, Chief of Party, USAID’s MaMoni Maternal and Newborn Care Strengthening Project was also present as special guest at the event. Akib Uddin, UFPO, Brahmanbaria Sadar, also shared his experience in working with eMIS.

The district team had planned to launch trainings, followed by training of the trainers.
